Ian Cowie, Chief Executive, RBS, Business & Commercial Banking
Appointed as Chief Executive of Business & Commercial Banking in 2008, Ian is currently responsible for managing the SME customer facing and support businesses within Corporate Banking Division in the UK. Business & Commercial Banking supports all SME customers (turnover £0-£25m) with their day-to-day banking needs and includes RBS Invoice Finance and Lombard Asset Finance.
Ian joined NatWest Bank straight from school and has held various positions in the Corporate Banking arena, before leaving and joining RBS two years before the take-over in March 2000. Since that time Ian has led various banking teams in and around London including Managing Director of Corporate Banking, London. He then moved to take up the role as Head of Specialist Corporate Businesses Group, which included the International Banking arm of the division, before moving in to his current role.
Ian is a qualified Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and Association of Corporate Treasurers. He is married to Linda and has four children.
Alastair Grier, Chief Operating Officer, RBS, Business & Commercial Banking
Alastair is the Chief Operating Officer of Business & Commercial Banking at The Royal Bank of Scotland based in Edinburgh.
He started work as a Graduate Trainee Derivatives Trader at AIG in 1993 before moving to Glaxo Welcome in 1996 to work on a multi-channel transformation programme. After this he was a National Account Manager, National Contracts Manager and National Sales Manager in the UK before moving into the Manufacturing Division Procurement area working across North and South America, Asia and Africa as Head of Strategy Development, Head of New Product Development Sourcing and then International Procurement Strategy Director.
Alastair moved to RBS in 2003 as Global Head of IT Purchasing and then Head of all Category Purchasing. He then moved to RBS Insurance where he held several roles as Network and Supply Chain Director, Sales and Service Distribution Director (involving a significant transformation programme), MD Household and Life and Commercial Director Growth Business Portfolio.
Alastair is married with two children. He is keen on most sports and actively plays golf, runs and dives. He coaches rugby at a local children's school and is interested in environmental issues and acts as a commercial advisor to the Scottish Wildlife Trust.
Will Jones - General Manager, Strategic Accounts, Monitise Group Limited
Prior to joining Monitise in late 2010, Will had over 20 years experience in Financial Services roles including Exec positions within Retail, Private and Wealth management. He was on the Exec team that launched Egg, the UK's first Internet Bank, and followed that up with Programme Director and COO roles at Egg Invest and Funds Direct respectively. Following two years external consulting with M&S Money and Santander, Will was accountable for setting up and running an Innovation function within RBS Retail, followed by a spell implementing the Bank's Retail Transformation Programme. He is now the Executive Director at Monitise accountable for the RBSG strategic partnership.
Nick Addyman, Partner Cogent Law
Nick is one of the three founding partners of the Parabis Group, a legal and professional services organisation that focuses on providing innovative solutions for the insurance, travel and related industries.
Qualified in 1992, Nick has over 20 years experience in dealing with all aspects of Personal Injury Claims and has been responsible for providing the strategic and visionary leadership for the development of the claimant law firms within the Group. In 2009 he led the consolidation of the Group's claimant law firms into a single Cogent Law brand where he is the Senior Partner.
Nick has initiated many groundbreaking practices within the claimant division of the Group including revolutionising the claims process through the re-engineering of business software. Most recently he has led the introduction of the MOJ reforms into the practise.
On a personal level, Nick has completed the London Marathon twice, in 2009 and 2010, raising in excess of £30k sponsorship for The Shooting Star Children's Hospice.
Pete Davison - Head of Fulfilment and Supply Chain, RBS Business & Commercial Banking
Pete recently joined Business and Commercial Banking (B&C) to create a new supply chain management function - Fulfilment and Supply Chain (F&SC).
The F&SC function will be working with B&C, and it's external and internal service partners, to deliver a new supply chain management framework across the business. The framework will aim to drive clearer accountability & control of all parts of the supply chain into B&C and their associated costs & risks.
This new model will also provide a platform for B&C to work more strategically with their supply base moving forward and harness the innovation and best practice that resides within.
Pete joined RBS in June 2007 and worked within Group Sourcing and Vendor Management and RBS Insurance.
Prior to that, Pete worked for Greggs PLC, a leading UK FMCG retailer, where he was Purchasing Manager and Group lead for the UK Confectionary Category. Whilst with Greggs, Pete introduced several new procurement processes including a Strategic Supplier Platform and Open Book Costing relationships with several of their key suppliers. Prior to Greggs, he worked in a senior procurement role for Pfizer Inc, a blue-chip Pharmaceutical organization, and also in a Marketing role for Shell UK Ltd.
Originally from North Yorkshire, Pete attended University in Newcastle upon Tyne and now lives in East Lothian, Scotland, with his wife and three children.
