Alastair Hay, Managing Director, Trustee & Depositary Services, The Royal Bank of Scotland

Photo of Alastair HayAlastair has been with TDS since 1987. During that time he has acquired an extremely broad and detailed understanding of the regulatory, operational and product aspects of collective investment schemes, serving in a range of operational, compliance and product roles. Latterly responsible for overseeing product and industry developments, Alastair participates in a broad range of industry groups and has been a central contributor to both the development of the TDS business and our clients' own product development initiatives.

Alastair has been a key member of the TDS senior management team for the past 10 years.

Rupert Watson, Head of Asset Allocation,
Skandia Investment Group

Photo of Rupert WatsonRupert joined Skandia in May 2009 and was previously Managing Director at Black River Asset Management where he co-managed their Global Macro Fund. Prior to that he worked for Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Investec Asset Management, Merrill Lynch Investment Management and the Bank of England.

Rupert holds an MA (Hons) in Economics from Edinburgh University and also holds the Investment Management Certificate. He is a CFA charter holder.

Tony Hanlon, Manager, the Asset Management Sector Team, The Financial Services Authority

Photo of Tony HanlonTony joined the FSA in October 2008, working in the Alternative and Asset Management Team. Prior to that, he spent five years as an independent consultant advising a range of asset management firms on business planning and operations. In 2002 he received a Masters degree from Harvard Law School, after conducting research into hedge funds.

From 1988 until 2001, Tony worked for Martin Currie, a specialist fund manager based in Edinburgh, initially as a portfolio manager then successively as the director responsible for investment operations, investment strategy and business planning. He has written in the Financial Times and other publications on the regulation of and business planning for asset management businesses.

Anthony Belcher, Director, European Fixed Income, Interactive Data

Photo of Anthony BelcherAnthony Belcher is director, European Fixed Income, Interactive Data. He is responsible for leading the company's fixed income division in Europe, both from an operational and commercial basis. Prior to this, Anthony was responsible for developing Interactive Data's strategy and acquisitions for Europe and Asia.

Anthony joined the company from the former Thomson Financial where, as commercial business manager, he was responsible for European acquisitions and other strategic projects. Prior to this he was a management consultant with Accenture and worked in many different change projects across Europe.

Anthony's work with both providers and users of financial information has given him a wide understanding of the financial markets and their participants. Anthony has a Bachelors degree in Chemistry from Sheffield University and a Masters degree in Business Administration from London Business School.

David Brown, Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP

Photo of David BrownDavid is a Partner, specialising in Pensions, Welfare and Transformation and leads the PwC pensions work to the DWP. For over 12 years, David has successfully advised and supported clients on a range of key issues including efficiency, service strategies, business cases, change management, partnering and outsourcing.

He has very extensive experience of directing programmes of change and has led a number of key transformation projects in the UK. He has previously worked in the public sector for a number of years including the NHS, the Scottish Executive and British Rail. He leads our pensions work with the DWP and other related Government bodies.

Tim Cornick, Partner, Investment Funds & Financial Services Group, Macfarlanes LLP

Photo of Tim CornickTim Cornick joined Macfarlanes as a partner in 1995 having been a partner at another City law firm since 1988.

Since 1983 he has had substantial involvement in legal matters on behalf of investment funds, investment managers, custodians and trustees. Those areas, plus financial services regulatory/compliance matters and related securities work form the bulk of his practice, with a strong emphasis on investment management and collective investment schemes in the UK and offshore.

He is a partner in Macfarlanes' Investment Funds and Financial Services Group which deals with all legal aspects of investment management including a wide variety of open and closed ended investment vehicles, in the UK and elsewhere, together with the full range of financial services related work.

He is a regular conference speaker and article writer, lead editor of "Collective Investment Schemes Law & Practice" (Sweet & Maxwell), Consultant Editor of "The International Guide to Marketing Investment Funds" (Finance & Investment Research), and of "A Practitioner's Guide to FSA Regulation of Designated Investment Business" (City & Financial). He also serves on the Law Society's sub-committee on collective investment schemes and on the Legal Advisory Group of the Investment Management Association.
